When you’re an elite global consulting firm, image matters. A leading firm housed in one of downtown Boston’s premier office buildings turned to Red Thread to create visually compelling—and highly functional—public spaces as part of the company’s top-to-bottom renovation.

Taking advantage of new space within its building that would better suit its requirements, the firm made public meeting areas—including more than 20 separate meeting rooms, a corporate boardroom suite and the cafeteria—a focal point of its renovation. For example, the firm envisioned a cafeteria that was more than just a place to eat. Red Thread helped the firm steer clear of the typical sterile cafeteria and create an upscale dining room by providing warm wooden tables and inviting chairs that complement the bamboo floor and upscale finishes. Since corporate gatherings, social events and quarterly meetings take place in this large space, Red Thread also provided the firm with a full array of advanced technology extending far beyond wireless access points, including projectors, multiple plasma screens and control systems.

For the firm’s marquee boardroom, Red Thread provided a striking custom table that seats 50 executives. Not surprisingly, the firm was reluctant to install dozens of cut-outs for technology access in such an elegant piece of furniture. Red Thread solved the problem by designing a special apron on the edge of the table for power and data ports. To meet the technology requirements for this impressive space, Red Thread deployed wireless and hardwired touch panels, microphones, audio conferencing gear, CATV and DVD equipment.

Red Thread also equipped the site’s other meeting rooms with the furniture and technology needed to support each room’s intended uses. Two meeting rooms, including a 20-person conference room adjoining the boardroom, provide the firm with the latest in video conferencing technology, enabling the firm to easily meet with clients, partners and remote personnel around the world.
