With only 90 days to pull together an opportunistic move to a prestigious address in Boston’s Back Bay, Sapient tapped Red Thread as a one-stop shop for a complete set of new furniture and audio visual technologies along with key services ranging from product specification to installation. The key to the fasttrack project: ensuring that Sapient didn’t lose the collaborative environment that evolved from its early days as a start-up, which was characterized by simple, freestanding tables and open spaces.

Providing conceptual drawings through complete installation documents, Red Thread responded with a comprehensive plan for the new workspaces that featured low-profile panels for space division and movable work surfaces. Comprising a modified deployment of Steelcase’s Post and Beam architectural framework along with the Steelcase Answer system, the solution maintains Sapient’s culture. The mobile furniture enables employees to do “heads-down” work while facing away from peers and then spin the surfaces to create a group setting for collaboration. At the same time, the solution achieved a new level of aesthetics that enhances the company’s image.

Red Thread also provided a comprehensive audio video solution – from design and engineering to installation and training – for Sapient’s boardroom, conference rooms, lobby and café. LCD projection and digital signage play a prominent role throughout the office, including the lobby, where a 42-inch flat-screen monitor welcomes visitors and relays messages to employees. Each conference room is equipped with projection technology and audio conferencing technologies, while the boardroom features a video conferencing solution, enabling Sapient to work more effectively throughout the world. An innovative networked scheduling application helps Sapient employees locate available meeting rooms for planning sessions and client meetings.
