WORKHUMAN’S NEW FRAMINGHAM HQ: INNOVATION, WELLBEING, AND SUSTAINABILITY REDEFINED
Workhuman’s new headquarters at 100 Staples Drive in Framingham, Massachusetts, epitomizes a trailblazing workspace tailored to foster innovation, wellbeing, and collaboration. Spanning 157,000 square feet, this space is designed to reflect the company’s ethos and heritage, promoting a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable work environment.
Experience and Wellbeing
The first floor at Workhuman Central serves as an immersive experience center, highlighted by the two-story life-like Gratitude Tree that symbolizes Workhuman’s dedication to recognition and employee appreciation. It houses a vibrant Workhuman Café and Lounge offering cold brew, kombucha, and a variety of healthy food and beverage options, as well as a well-equipped Wellbeing Center and Gym featuring Peloton bikes, a fitness studio, a treatment room, and a golf simulator. The floor also features a dynamic Conference Center, a Learning and Development space, a video studio, and ambient music with sound masking throughout, complemented by hundreds of biophilic elements. The library provides a serene setting for reflective reading, while the Brilliant Bar functions as a collaborative hub for IT and Workplace support. And even unique amenities like a headshot station and a SWAG selection. These elements collectively emphasize Workhuman’s emphasis on employee wellbeing and engagement, fostering an inclusive and captivating environment.
Diverse Working Spaces
Designed to cater to a spectrum of working preferences, floors two and three are tailored to accommodate diverse work styles, ranging from serene zones for solo concentration to vibrant areas for team interactions. These levels showcase dynamic workspaces with adaptable layouts aimed at fostering collaboration and sparking innovation. Through the inventive integration of Everwall by Steelcase, dedicated areas such as small phone rooms and secluded workspaces are devised to support focused tasks, while communal spaces are designated for collective brainstorming sessions. This strategic design empowers employees to self-select their ideal work settings, seamlessly blending collaborative zones into the overall layout. Embracing a culture of activation, Workhuman curates environments primed for teams to efficiently utilize available resources for any given project, thereby amplifying productivity and cultivating a culture of creativity.
Inclusivity and Sustainability
Workhuman’s commitment to sustainability and inclusivity is evident throughout the headquarters. The building features all-gender restrooms, ADA accessible doors, and robust recycling programs. Over 70% of all furniture, lighting, and fixtures include materials made from recycled content. Additionally, the repurposing of existing furniture in the new space was an important aspect of the project. For example, the boardroom table is now used as a conference table, and new lounge pieces have been added to complement the existing furniture, creating a fresh and creative mix and all the workstations have been upcycled into the new design.
“Red Thread played a vital role in advancing our sustainability goals by skillfully incorporating over 1,000 pre-owned furniture items from Workhuman’s prior location,” said Jess Klay, Workhuman VP, Global Workplace Experience Design. “This seamless fusion of old and new elements realized our design objectives while adhering to our budget, exemplifying value engineering practices and creating a space that reflects our values and fosters collaboration and innovation .”
Welcome Home “Humans”
Workhuman’s new headquarters exemplifies the future of modern workspaces, embracing sustainability, inclusivity, and innovation—key pillars of their mission. This headquarters embodies the essence of joy at work, promoting employee well-being, encouraging collaboration, and sparking creativity. It warmly welcomes all “humans” into their new home, creating an environment where everyone can thrive.
