PTC relocated their headquarters from Needham, Mass. to a newly constructed 17-story building in Boston’s Seaport District. The move to the Seaport is about reconnecting with the city and being part of an epicenter of innovation. The company’s digital and workplace transformation is the catalyst for energizing PTC’s brand and culture. The 250,000 SF technology-rich headquarters serve as a premier destination for employees, customers, and partners to experience PTC’s capabilities. Employees are all free-address, choosing activity-based work settings and collaborating with the most advanced and intuitive technology in the city.

AV and IT Converged in the Cloud

The new headquarters is one of Boston’s first AV over IP enterprise wide technology implementations. The Crestron DigitalMedia NVX platform provides a completely flexible and scalable solution that configures, deploys, and maintains audiovisual technology on PTC’s IT network. This platform allows PTC to distribute content to any display throughout their headquarters. Given the size and complexity of this initiative, it required months of planning and coordinating network configuration, security, and bandwidth requirements with the IT team.

Old and New Worlds Collide in PTC’s Boardroom

During the construction of the building, the remains of a two-masted schooner dating back to the 19th century were uncovered. To pay homage to the shipwreck, the boardroom table was crafted from the restored wood, and designed in a shape that’s reminiscent of a ship. The old world craftmanship of the boardroom is just part of the story.  PTC executives collaborate effortlessly with the latest Cisco Webex Room Kit, Webex Board and a 2×2 Planar video wall. Audio conferencing microphones are seamlessly integrated into the custom table. A Crestron touch panel provides simplistic control and a consistent user interface with all 140 meeting spaces throughout the headquarters.
