Designing for People, Purpose, and Community
The new 36,000-square-foot Fair Haven Community Health Center at 390 Grand Avenue is more than just a building—it’s a thoughtfully designed sanctuary for both patients and staff. This project reflects the center’s long-standing commitment to accessible, high-quality care. Every corner of the new health center was designed to feel calm, intentional, and welcoming—from the materials and colors to the layout and furnishings. The entire space reflects a commitment to dignity, healing, and human connection. We collaborated with OFS, Steelcase, and AMQ to support that vision, furnishing key areas like the wellness room, community kitchen, waiting room and more with pieces that bring comfort, functionality, and softness to the experience.
Rooted in community feedback and guided by compassion, the space thoughtfully integrates areas for Fair Haven’s “Food as Medicine” program, behavioral health consultations, and dedicated moments of respite—like the outdoor patio designed for staff to recharge. The furniture supports it all encouraging interaction, privacy, and healing through warm materials and adaptable design. Our team also integrated sound masking solutions throughout, enhancing patient confidentiality without sacrificing openness. It’s a space that lives the values it was founded on: care, dignity, and community-driven design—better equipped to serve its 36,000 unique patients.
