AV Planning Cushman

Reception spaces are the first impression of an organization. In these public spaces it is imperative that technology and control systems are hidden. Sound must be successfully integrated into the space, providing speaker placement and control to allow for paging and background music.

Digital signage can consist of informative displays with software based graphics and can be used to direct visitors, inform about upcoming events, corporate messages or even mood setting using digital artwork. Our team is able to respond to any creative initiative, for instance curved video walls or intricate projection systems.

Whether for a school, business or entertainment venue, today’s auditoriums are complex spaces that demand high functionality and flexibility. The technology must be able to accommodate live performance, panel discussions, and recorded or streamed presentations all while considering; ADA requirements, sightlines, technician mixing spaces, projection booths, podiums, sound amplification, speech and visual reinforcement, recording, and power.

Our AV team understands the inherent complexity of these spaces and strives to provide seamless solutions that are well engineered and user friendly. Learn more about Boston University’s Auditorium.

Optimizing real estate is a prevalent trend, one that can be supported with audiovisual technology. Multipurpose spaces can be reconfigured on the fly, utilized for employee collaboration, media presentations, video telepresence, and large company wide meetings or training sessions. And today’s audiovisual systems can be used to support almost any application.

Our expertise can be helpful when designing these multi-functional audiovisual spaces. Our team is dialed into how different activities require very different room configurations and audiovisual functionality. They understand the right questions to ask when engineering these spaces, issues that concern power and data access, acoustics, sound, wireless connectivity and even furniture placement. Details such as designing the seating in a wide format as opposed to deep configuration for better viewing can be crucial in augmenting the end user experience.

Learn Lab

Classrooms today need to encourage active learning which requires robust technology to support a wide variety of functions. Within this type of environment, the space is often broken into multiple collaborative groups making it essential that content be shared across multiple screens with the press of a button. Whether teams are focused on one large projected screen, are broken into collaborative groups, or are working and communicating individually, the content must be fluid and able to be viewed on one, all or select screens.

Generally control is centralized with the instructor who can then can push content to all the displays as well as any projection device in the space. In addition, the instructor can push any of the selected user laptop content to the different displays within the learn lab, can annotate over projected images from a Smart podium, or record a class session. These intuitive 21st century educational spaces encourage experiential learning which creates a richer, more dynamic experience. Learn more about the Institute of Health Professions Learn Lab.

The Work Café is the heart of the organization. Much like multipurpose rooms they must be adaptable in order to optimize real estate. Throughout the day, employees can enjoy lunch or coffee while catching up on current news of the day or company announcements on wall mounted flat screen displays showing cable news or company messaging. For those large venue opportunities, ceiling concealed projections systems and motorized screens can be lowered for use.

Ceiling mounted, full range speakers must be located throughout the space for consistent coverage and often these spaces utilize acoustic absorptive material to combat audio reflection and increase intelligibility. In these spaces, which are highly important to enhancing brand and culture, Red Thread’s integrated expertise can ensure that all facets of design are accounted for. For example, our custom solutions team can design a kitchen island that is functional – hiding racks in a convenient and accessible spot. Learn more about Compuware’s Work Café.

If collaboration is the engine of innovation, then by default collaborative spaces such as huddle rooms are arguably the most essential spaces in any organization. Our Audiovisual engineers have designed hundreds of these spaces and are focused on making them intuitive, user friendly and highly functional.

Current technology allows for multiple, simultaneous presentations for efficient collaboration. We help to identify an average number of users so that the optimal number of connections are properly wired in. Wall mounted interactive displays, such as Smart Boards, are a great compliment to collaborative rooms, allowing for instantaneous work revisions and screen captures of a document’s collaborative mark-up. Employees demand a plug & play user interface, our team is well versed in the technology that gets a team up and running, focused on the task at hand – not wasting time fighting with the technology. The Team Studio is designed for generative collaboration, ideal when teams are working together for extended periods of time, not only reviewing and sharing content, but brainstorming and generating ideas.

Wall mounted dual 65” displays are ideal for video conferencing while sharing content, yet the space also provides wall-to-wall whiteboard giving participants a way to engage, interact and edit/augment ideas on the fly. The split table is designed to allow people to easily transition from the table to the whiteboard areas. The stool height seating also supports standing, perching and moving from various locations within the space and there is HD videoconferencing integrated for remote team collaboration as well.

Master Control Rooms are central technology spaces that provide active monitoring and control. Whether the space is designed to monitor critical systems or social media feeds (or anything in between), the system is generally designed to feed content to a single display and when necessary, explode that content across all screens on the video wall.

The are multiple considerations to factor in when designing these rooms. Audio signals are often necessary to relay information between rooms, redundancy and back up systems must be engineered into the system, and for rooms that operate 24/7, additional devices are necessary to prevent equipment failure. In addition, active ventilation in the room and temperature control is recommended due to the heat loads generated from the centralized racks. These are complex spaces that benefit from an AV team that has the experience to implement a well planned audiovisual system integration.

A large conference room, boardroom or briefing room is a key space in any organization. Designed for collaboration, presentation, and to support corporate culture, formal meeting spaces can vary widely in complexity and Red Thread Audiovisual is adept at engineering solutions for conference rooms of all sizes.

We consider how ambient light affects a space thus requiring window shades or dimming. We look at the siteline distance to determine the appropriate display size and height for presentations – or perhaps design a multi-screen solution. We consider how audio will be integrated in to the room, connectivity for laptops and where power will be accessed. Details such as personalization within the touch panel controls, recording capabilities and sound masking outside the conference room are considerations that our team of experts assesses with you.

Whether in the corporate or educational setting, when designing training rooms, attention must be paid to the experience of each seated participant. Our audiovisual team ensures that participants have unobstructed views of the content by using multiple large format displays and projection displays if necessary.

Training rooms must allow for recording as well as live streaming to allow for remote training. In addition, technology is increasingly freeing the instructor to move throughout the room with wireless microphones and the gyro mouse. Annotation capture and the ability for participants to share content with multiple screens instantly, adds depth and interactivity to the training experience. Organizations designing training facilities benefit from a divide/combine capability where by rooms and technology can be automatically reconfigured with adjoining spaces.
