Can you walk us through the scope of the project for Red Thread?
Red Thread Team: It was an exciting journey right from the start. The vision for One Congress was to captivate, and our collaboration aimed to bring that vision to life. It was exciting to have a canvas to outfit the lobby, outdoor, and amenity spaces on the 11th floor including areas like the fitness center, happy hour bar, living room, library, and function room.
Could you share some details about the process of selecting the furnishings?
Red Thread Team: We worked closely with Carr Properties, Gachot Studios, and HYM Investment Group, engaging in a collaborative process that took us to Everett and New Haven for sit tests. It was a hands-on experience, ensuring that the 1500 individually sourced and 580 custom furnishings were a perfect fit for the overall design concept.
How did Red Thread adapt and navigate through the five-phase delivery and installation process?
Red Thread Team: Construction delays are par for the course, and we rolled with the punches. Our team utilized our storage facilities in Wilmington, ensuring a seamless, just in time delivery and installation process across the five phases. Flexibility and adaptability were key.
Can you give us a glimpse into the eclectic mix that contributed to the layered design of One Congress?
Red Thread Team: The variety was immense, contributing to the richness of the design. We worked with 90 vendors, sourcing from 8 different countries, and supported 7 local Massachusetts companies. Vintage items were sourced from Brimfield, and we had them reupholstered in Everett, adding a touch of character to the spaces. It’s these unique finds that elevate the design and tell a story.
What is the impact of One Congress for Boston?
Red Thread Team: One Congress is more than a building; it’s a part of the community and a new addition to the Boston skyline. We believe it will shape the future of the area, not just aesthetically but also by fostering a sense of community. It’s a symbol of growth and progress, leaving a lasting impact on the city.
How did you stay connected with Carr Properties, HYM Investment Group, and Gachot Studios throughout the project?
Red Thread Team: Our weekly Friday calls were the heartbeat of our collaboration. Three years of weekly check-ins brought us close! There was a shared commitment to excellence, and it was a bit bittersweet when the calls finally came to an end. From welcoming a new member to the family to buying houses and celebrating weddings, our team experienced it all. It added a personal touch to the project, making it more than just work. It’s a chapter in our lives intertwined with the growth of One Congress.
Can you share what this project meant to everyone involved?
Red Thread Team: One Sunday, as part of a boots-on-the-ground effort, we found ourselves at One Congress alongside Carr and HYM. Courtney, from our team, and Carr were putting out chairs for the opening day while others were filling soap dispensers for the showers. It was a moment that encapsulated the dedication and collaboration that went into making One Congress a reality.
